Southeast Beach Vacation

Fun in the sun is what a vacation is all about. Who needs the stress when you are traveling? The whole point of going on a vacation is to escape the stress that the real world brings us. Work has beaten us down to the point of being corporate drones or family obligations have grown so far out of control you find yourself losing hair you didn’t even know you had.

That is not living – that is wallowing in a wasteland of stress that will sooner kill you then help you to relax. Beaches, the Ocean, waves of solitude rushing over you – that is what you need – and you need it now.

Beaches make great week by week vacations or even for a couple days. My family and I love the beaches in the southeast part of the country.

Being from Pennsylvania the only beach we could ever hope to see within 120 miles is New Jersey – and, no offense to New Jersey, it is more of a stretch of dirt then an actual beach.

There is no fun there unless you wish to gamble and my 7 year old does not gamble yet (at least I hope not).

Driving down the coast is fun in its own way. You can fly of course – and right now fares are incredibly cheap at under $200.00 on a typical flight. Leaving Pennsylvania to head to a beach takes us past several.

The first to note is Ocean City Maryland. Beautiful waters – calm and serene and there is one heck of a boardwalk to walk on at all hours of the day and at the end a great old fashioned amusement park. The problem though is that Ocean City is seasonal in nature so going during the cooler months would be kind of harsh.

Passing by Ocean City we find ourselves looking at the Carolina’s. North Carolina has some mighty fine beaches which, of course, run into South Carolina where I love to go.

In South Carolina you will find Myrtle Beach – one of the top premiere vacation destinations outside of Florida’s Disneyland. Myrtle Beach offers many things you cannot find elsewhere including a tremendous board walk – many amusement parks and great dining and entertainment and all cheaper than anything else you may find depending the season you choose to head down in.

The waters are clear and calm and beyond soothing. The area is filled with many attractions including an all year round Haunted House and Ripley’s. The shopping is also on the top of the fun pile.

You cannot mention southeast beaches without going down to Florida. The entire state is nearly a beach. From Sand Island to Miami there are a string of beaches that can make any beach lover drool.

White sands on your feet that are soft, water so blue in places you can see to the bottom. There is no mistaking the beauty that Florida offers its visitors.

Beach lovers every where can agree that the southeast has some of the finest water and sand available.
